📘 Getting Started with AI in DataOlllo

DataOlllo features a powerful AI system that works right out of the box with secure, ready-to-use settings.
With simple natural-language commands, you can clean, transform, and analyze your data effortlessly.
You can also connect your own AI models to extend capabilities even further.

This guide walks you through everything you need to start using AI with your datasets.

1. Install DataOlllo

Download the desktop app from:

Install it on your computer (Windows and macOS supported).

2. Choose How You Want to Use AI

DataOlllo offers three AI modes. You can switch models anytime in AI Chat → Settings.

🚀 Mode 1: Default LLM (Built-in, No Setup Needed)

✓ No API key required
✓ Uses internet connection
✓ Sends only masked metadata + masked sample rows
✓ Zero-setup, best for quick insights

By default, DataOlllo sends:

  • A small number of masked sample rows
  • Dataset shape and general metadata

This protects sensitive information while still allowing the AI to understand your data structure.

🌐 Mode 2: Bring Your Own LLM API

Choose your provider:

  • ChatGPT / OpenAI
  • Google Gemini
  • Any OpenAI-compatible endpoint

Data Privacy Options

In Settings → AI you can choose:

  • Masked metadata + masked sample rows (default & safest)
  • Real metadata and a small number of sample rows (optional)

This gives full transparency and control over what leaves your machine.

Where to get API keys

Paste your key in DataOlllo and you're ready to go.

💻 Mode 3: Local Ollama Model (No Internet Required)

If you want fully local AI, DataOlllo can connect to an Ollama instance running on your computer.

✓ 100% offline
✓ No data leaves your machine
✓ Great for privacy-focused workflows

Just install Ollama, pull your model, and select it inside DataOlllo:

ollama pull llama3.2

And set the model in DataOlllo by select local option in AI Chat → Settings → Select 'local' model.

3. Start Exploring Your Data

Once an AI model is selected, you can:

  • Ask questions about your dataset\
  • Generate summaries, charts, and transformations\
  • Run polars/pandas/plotly code automatically\
  • Combine AI with DataOlllo's workflow engine

Whether using masked cloud mode, your own API, or a fully local model---AI insights are just one click away.
